Style Code

The body style and model year are indicated on the cowl tag next to the word "STYLE". If you don't know where to find your cowl tag, click HERE.

Accessory Codes

The style code consists of two numbers followed by a dash, then a four digit code. The first two numbers indicate the model year. In the example above, "60" represents 1960. The following four numbers indicate the body style. The body style code here however can be misleading when it comes to determining if a car was equipped with a V8 or a L6 engine. Since the Fisher Body plant did not yet know what chassis options a body was destined for, they simply stamped the cowl tags wtih V8 style codes.
